President Bill Jones welcomed 25 other members and guest speaker Jamie Clark, the crew trainer and a qualified coxswain of the Helensburgh RNLI lifeboat.
Youth services convener Adam Muggoch reported that the Young Baker competition would be held at Hermitage Academy at 4pm, with the Young Photographer judging at the Yacht Club on Sunday — helpers required to prepare at 10.30am.
Jack Rudram said that the Young Writer competition, which attracted a record entry of 106, had been judged by Linda Wight, Donald Fullarton, and Carol Rudram, and the medals would be presented in the next few days. The Primary Schools Quiz will be at Lomond School on Monday March 6 at 1pm.
International convener Dopuglas Dow reported that the annual Can Collection had been arranged at Helensburgh Co-op on Saturday May 6, with the proceeds this time going to the club's youth services.
Jamie Clark, who has lived in Helensburgh all his life, gave a detailed account and update on the Helensburgh RNLI lifeboat, which was established in 1967. In the last twelve months there had been 37 local 'shouts'. After a number of questions Lesley Kennedy proposed the vote of thanks.
The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by Ron Dunachie.
