President Bill Jones welcomed 14 other members, and explained that there was a Purple4Polio jar of greengage jam for each member, which could either be bought for £2 or used to collect coins for the End Polio Now campaign.

He also reported on the recent District 1230 Council meeting, and said that he had been particularly impressed by a presentation on behalf of the Kids Out charity, which provides days out for children, and another on cyber bullying. The main item discussed was opposition to the Rotary GB&I Budget, and members agreed that the club representatives should vote against its adoption.

Progress is being made with the proposed amalgamation with the Garelochside club, and there will be a further meeting of the two presidents on Thursday. It is hoped to discuss this at a short Board meeting after lunch next Tuesday.

Community and Vocational convener Bill Deans confirmed that a D-Day Concert would be held at the Victoria Hall on Tuesday June 6 at 7.30pm, featuring the HMS Neptune Volunteer Band and the Military Wives Choir. He hoped for the full support of the club in staging the event.

The weekly raffle for a whisky miniature was won by John McCormick.
