We had the great pleasure to welcome Alison Gowman as a guest speaker today.

Alison is elected Alderman from the City of London and is a consultant at DLA Piper UK LLP having been a senior partner specialising in real estate. She has worked on investment and development transactions both within the City and nationally and assisted international businesses.

Alison is a member of the City of London Land Law Committee.  She is
the Chairman of the City Bridge Trust, Governor of the Museum of
London (and Chairman of its Audit and Risk Committee) as well as
member of the City of London Police Committee (and Chairman of its
Professional Standards and Integrity Subcommittee).
She served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Glovers of London.

CITY BRIDGE TRUST is the grant-making arm of Bridge House Estates, a
fund administered by the City of London, which has its origins in
medieval times when finance was needed to build and maintain Old
London Bridge.

Bridge House Estates now maintains the five bridges, which cross the Thames into the Square Mile – Tower Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Southwark Bridge, London Bridge and Millennium Bridge.

Whilst the maintenance of these bridges is still its prime objective,
the Bridge House Estates fund has grown substantially over the
centuries. As a result, City Bridge Trust was established to make use
of funds surplus to bridge requirements and currently awards grants of
around £20 million a year to charities working in Greater London.
