A brief introduction to the formation of our club:
On Wednesday, May 18th 1960, the Inaugural meeting of the Club was held at the Abbey Hotel, chaired by Rotarian Edward Elwell, Chairman of District 106, acting in the capacity of representative of Rotary International.
There were 28 founder members at that time, representing a variety of professions. The Founder President, Ray Tisdale, was a timber merchant. The Vice President, Pierre Cantin, was a dentist born in the British Colony of Mauritius, of French descent.
Kenilworth Rotary Club received its Charter, dated August 24th. This was in the middle of the holiday season so the Charter celebration took place three months later, on the 18thNovember at the Chesford Grange Hotel.
