The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright held their annual Burns Supper on 24th January with traditional fare and entertainment. After a magnificent rendering of My Love is Like a Red Red Rose by Academy student Jessie Leach, Rotarian Ivor Waddell gave the Selkirk Grace. The haggis was piped in by Academy student Ewan Donald who also performed several traditional tunes later in the evening, and the address was given by Rotarian John Carson. Visiting speaker Jack Lamb, a farmer and agricultural merchant from Ayr, gave an informative and entertaining talk in proposing the toast to the Immortal Memory. This was followed by a captivating recitation of Tam o' Shanter by Rotarian and Burns fan Mike Duguid, all interspersed by community singing accompanied by Academy teacher Ms Hannah Gill, and the evening concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all Club members and guests, and thanks were given to Rotarian James Dunlop who had organised the event.
