Speaker: Jen Clarke (Homelink)

We were delighted to welcome Jen Clarke, Manager of Homelink, as our guest speaker.

Homelink Day Care Respite Centre is a keen supporter of our annual Swimathon and we were delighted to welcome the manager Jen Clarke yesterday to give us an update on their vital work.
Homelink was founded in 1997 at St Augustine's Church, Whitton to provide occasional relief for carers who were desperately in need of a break from looking after people with long term illnesses, disabilities or mental health problems.
The service initially started with just 8 clients meeting in the church hall but demand quickly outstripped resources. Fortunately the need for such care was recognised by others and thanks to grants and fund raising activities it was possible to provide a purpose built Day Care Centre which now welcomes 140 people each week - with a waiting list for others to join.
Homelink provides respite care in a friendly and professional way and provides a vital service to carers in the local community. The charity is always looking for volunteers to drive clients or help in the centre, and also welcomes help with fundraising.
This is another organisation we are proud to be involved with and which is very worthy of support. The photo shows Jen Clarke (right) with our vice president Eva Peters.
