Speaker: Sian Morgan, Trustee Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington

Mon, Jun 25th 2018 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Our speaker this week was Sian Morgan, a trustee at the Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington.
The centre offers a wide range of arts education activities for children, young people and adults, and has been operating out of the former St Albans Church since 1995.
It was fascinating to learn about the history of the magnificent church building which was constructed in the 1880s and was derelict and neglected for many years until it became the home of the community arts centre. It is a building which is a fantastic asset but which has brought many problems in terms of refurbishment and upkeep.
We learned of the activities which the centre runs and the commercial use (event hire, etc) which is necessary to help aid the running costs. The centre now attracts over 30,000 visitors each year. It was a most interesting talk. Our pictures show the exterior of the building and Sian chatting with Club President Bryan Woodriff, and next year's President, Eva Peters, after her talk.
Further details on the centre are available at http://www.landmarkartscentre.org/
