Youth Speaks - Zone Final 2016-17

The second round of the Rotary National Public Speaking Competition for young people was hosted by Witney Rotary Club


Ten teams, drawn from across most of Oxfordshire, gathered to compete for the opportunity to progress through to the 1090 Youth speaks District Finals.

After a very competitive contest, the winning team in the Intermediate Section were judged to be from Rye St Anthony's School in Headington their presentation was entitled 'Being Funny'.

In the Senior Section Students from  King Alfred's Academy Wantage walked away with the Trophy with their thoughts on  'Brits and the Global Village'

Congratulations to the two teams who now progess to the District Final on Thursday 3d March at Christchurch, Oxford Road, Marlow. The winners from there will go forward to the National Finals

Thank you to everyone involved in the 2017 local competitions, pupils and staff. As ever the level of public speaking and the range of subjects covered was of the higest standard.
