Rotary Young Chef 2017 District Final

Showcasing the talents of would be chefs in Rotary District 1080


Having been successful in winning our local Young Chef Area Competition Josh Hancock progressed to the District 1080 Final held at Suffolk One College in Ipswich on 25th February 2017.

To tickle your tastebuds Josh's menu was:-

Blow Torched Mackerel

Roast Chicken with Fondant Potato and Kale

Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie

While it may sound simple there was a lot of work involved  with butchering hischicken boniong out the legs as well as filleting the mackerel.

Josh was a joint winner with Alima Nurpeissova from Saffron Walden and they now move on to participate in the Regional Final on 11th March which takes in the winners from the London and Essex District together with those from Bucks Beds & Herts District.

Judges on thisoccasion were Alex Harrison and Matthew Mowles and the prizes were presented by Tim Passmore the Suffolk Police Commissioner and District Governor Derek Rothwell
