£600 raised by Charity Quiz

The club organised a charity quiz at Little Common Community Centre on Friday, 3 March, in support of the Bexhill Caring Community. A full house of 114 quizzers had their skills and knowledge sorely stretched by the questions set by Rotarian Roger “Have you seen my nice dicky?” Young.  From the questions posed it was pretty obvious that “I dare you get one right” Roger had been laid up for several weeks and relieved his boredom by devouring encyclopaedias and digesting masses of facts from the internet. Quiz master, Rotarian Eddie “Cool” McCall, kept the quizzers in order with his “I’m in control here” stance as he curtailed Roger’s rambling around the tables. Thankfully there was a break for a Ploughman’s lunch (or should it be supper?), but then no relief as we had to scratch heads trying to remember all the squares on a Monopoly board.

Surprisingly there were eventual winners, joint winners, in fact, so some people had managed to score a point during the evening. The overall joint winners were the Care Bear Bunch and the March Hares. But the main winners were the Bexhill Caring Community and Rotary’s own charity, the Rotary Foundation, where it will be used to help Rotary’s EndPolioNow  campaign, who will share the funds raised.

At the meeting on 22 March club President, Glynn Parry, handed a cheque for £400 to Rotarian and Chair of Bexhill Caring Community, Stuart Earl. Stuart expressed his grateful thanks on behalf of the Community.
