The Trust raises funds to make grants to churches in Northamptonshire of all denominations for their ''preservation, repair and maintenance, improvement, upkeep, beautification and maintenance, improvement, upkeep, beautification and reconstruction"

The Trust's funds are raised by donations, subscriptions from friends, and the proceeds of the annual sponsored Ride & Stride, which takes place on the second Saturday in September each year.

Grants are made to churches and chapels during the course of the year but are marked by a Celebration Evening during July. This is invariably a most congenial evening when members of the Trust have the opportunity of meeting representatives from the churches to which grants have been made. These representatives also have the opportunity of exchanging experiences which provides a source of encouragement in the challenging task of fund raising.

The trust is a National organisation and here is a collage showing the ten Churches that one of our members, Ian Lowery, and his daughter visited in Devon as part of the Step and Stride funding raising event for the Historic Churches Trust.

Ian says "Rotarians kindly sponsored me for £145 enabling me to send £215 in total to the Northamptonshire Historic Churches Trust.  My daughter Caroline rode with me and has sent her own sponsorship to the Devon branch.  We covered 26 miles managing to dodge showers until the very end, climbing some very steep hills on the way.  We would not have done it without the battery power of our electric bikes!"
