Dinner

Wed, May 30th 2018 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Speaker: Peter Niven. Subject: St James - 200 years of History

Peter has researched and, last year,  published an authoritative history of this much loved landmark in the heart of St Peter Port under the title “St James the Less - Guernsey”

He has kindly agreed to share some of his insight and knowledge with us at our evening meeting on the 30th May.

Peter was born in Manchester in1954, studied Chemistry at Birmingham University and then went on to have a successful 30-year career with the Lloyds Banking Group.

For the last 10 years of that career he worked in Guernsey and still lives there today with is wife, Anne.

He has subsequently worked for the States of Guernsey, as the Director of Finance Sector Development and, most recently, with the Finance industry on the island, as Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance LBG, promoting the island on the world stage as a well regulated and respected International Finance Centre.

He remains closely involved with the industry but, in his ‘spare’ time, follows his keen interest in history and historical research, particularly relating to Guernsey, and has written a number of books on a wide variety of local subjects.
