'Crossrail: Delivering and Operating the £15bn Railway'

Our speaker this evening was Howard Smith, Operations Director of Crossrail for Transport for London.

Howard Smith is Operations Director of Crossrail for Transport for London.

After studying at LSE, Howard managed train operations and stations in South and West London (including Richmond and Kew Gardens!). He worked on Channel Tunnel freight services, forming joint ventures with French, Belgian and Swiss partners. At TfL, he has run the Docklands Light Railway, was part of the team that created London Overground and he oversaw a £3bn investment programme in advance of the 2012 Games, where as TfL's Chief Operating Officer, London Rail he played a key role. After the Games he moved to work full time at Crossrail where he has particular responsibility for future operations, as the new railway - to be known as the 'Elizabeth line' opens in Stages through to 2019.

Every Summer there are two Shows on Kew Green, Kew Fete and Kew Horticultural Show.
