Business Meeting

Tue, Aug 8th 2017 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

During the Club’s business meeting President John Spittal expressed his delight at the great success of recent community events, fellowship meetings and fund-raising activities.

At the St Andrews Highland Games at Station Park the Club’s stall had raised £200 with a range of tombolas and raffles. Concurrently, the Duck Race had taken place in the Swilken Burn, causing much amusement, many wet feet and earning a sum of £426 to go to various local charities.

Several further events are in the pipeline including the Club’s Charter Dinner in two weeks’ time, a substantial presence at the Craigtoun Charity Fair at the end of this month and the major fund-raising Rotary Club of Kilrymont St Andrews Kingsbarns Charity Golf Day at the end of October.

Committee members presented reports which gave a healthy picture of both the Club’s finances, membership, and moves to increase corporate membership and interest in the Friends of Rotary.

Youth projects for the coming year are also in good shape, with the Club either leading or partnering in Rotakids, Young Photographer of the Year, the primary schools quiz, the West Sands weekly sandcastle competition and a new technology-based competition for local youth which may have a sizeable sponsorship from the Institute of Engineers.

There will also be another fund-raising presence in aid of Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign at an event in the St Andrews branch of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill on Saturday September 12.
