20th May 2017 - Charity Quiz Night

Cambuslang Rotary Club's Quiz Night at Kirkhill Bowling Club.

Cambuslang Rotary Club held a very successful Charity Quiz night on Saturday 20th May at Kirkhill Bowling Club.

The questions had been set by Jonathon Cockayne who is the son of one of our club members and in his absence the role of quiz master was ably filled by club member Kenny Finnie.  There was a mix of questions - some easy, some impossible.  Teams playing their joker on the Disney round were dismayed to find just how many obscure Disney facts Jonathon had been able to find – can anyone else name the two male kittens in the Aristocats or the date Steamboat Willie was first released!  Finally after seven nail-biting rounds the result was announced - it was very close but team 5 had just edged into the winning position.  Everybody agreed it had been a really fun evening with lots of laughter and good-natured debate around the tables.

The evening included a buffet supper and raffle with some special prizes donated by local Cambuslang businesses and the club would like to thank Urban Alfresco, Light and Dew, The Tea Bay, Pandora’s Box and The Auld Bag Company whose generous prizes helped boost sales of raffle tickets and contributed  to the success of the evening.  Thanks also go to the Sandwich Factory for donating the buffet.  The whole evening raised the great total of £500 which will go to charities supported by the Rotary Club.

PS: Should anyone ever need know the kittens are called Berlioz, and Toulous and Steamboat Willie was released on 18 Nov 1928!
