A Public Speaking Competition for Young People

Youth Speaks Competition

The encouragement and development of public speaking and presentation skills is highly important and this competition is designed to encourage those skills in young people.

Eligibility

New Bus

This competition is open to young people aged 17 or under on the 31st August 2020 and is split into two age categories: 

  • Intermediate, for those aged 11 to 13 
  • Senior for those aged 14 to 17

The Competition

The competition is held to enable young people to:

  • experience of speaking on a public platform as members of a team
  • formulate ideas on significant topical subjects
  • learn the discipline in dealing with a topic in a limited time
  • learn and practise expression, presentation and appearance
  • receive impartial feedback and assessment of performance by experienced adjudicators

The Four Stages of this Competition:

  • Local Heats – To be arranged by Rotary clubs
  • District Finals – To be arranged but possibly during January
