Fellowship Evening

On Thursday 2nd November, the Rotary Club of South Queensferry held a fellowship meeting in the Hawes Inn. Following the meal, members were addresses by four Rotary Young Leaders' Awards participants who had been sponsored by the club to attend a week-long programme of outdoor activity, physical and mental challenges and team-building exercises in the Perthshire hills. Kathryn Hope, Fiona Stoddart, Cameron McArthur and Ssarien Liddell, all students at Queensferry High School, gave a short, often amusing presentation outlining their varied experiences and how they reacted to the sometimes surprising tasks they had to complete. Each student brought home individual memories, but all agreed that the course had broadened their horizons and   faced them with tasks that could only be solved by co-operation and teamwork which would stand them in good stead during future studies and careers.  

Following the meeting, a team from the club took on guests from the Rotary Club of Dalkeith in the latest round of the Rotary District Quiz. Under the watchful eye of quizmaster Jim Boyd of the Rotary Club of Glenrothes, the Queensferry team of David Buchanan, Allan Brown, Jim McCulloch and Matt Purdie came through strongly in the quick fire round to win by twenty points to fifteen in a thoroughly enjoyable competition.
