June Diary

Dave's Final Month

This will be my last Porthole entry as president as my year has nearly finished and I will be handing over to Ian at his Handover on the 4th July.

I have enjoyed my time and thanks to everyone, we have achieved another good year.

During June we have taken the children from Westfield Arts College to Crealy Park as part of Kids Out, celebrated 100yrs of Foundation at the Sailing Academy. There was a large attendance, and we presented Mark Townsend with the Paul Harris Fellowship, much to his surprise. An enjoyable time was had by all thanks to Keith for arranging it.

We visited HMS Duncan at Portland port, held the table top sale at c2000, all saints helped at the Chesil Rocks.

We received feedback from Casterbridge regarding the Dorchester Marathon and our assistance was appreciated and the plan is to run again for next year.

One sad note came from John MacKenzie, that due to moving house he has to leave the club, but I feel certain that our paths will meet.

When I became president a long standing member gave me this bit of advice: never finish your year with wishing that you could have done more.

My plan was to purchase a shelter box, lay a wreath at the cenotaph and place the club in a good financial position – The result is 2 boxes purchased, wreath laid, and finances in place.

You don’t have to plan big, its the small things in life that count!

Thank you all, President David
