THE YEAR IN THE LIFE OF ROTAKIDS AT WHITCHURCH PRIMARY SCHOOL
The Rotakids today completed the end of a very successful year and were presented with Achievement Certificates for their hard work and commitment.
At the start of the Rotakids year they held a Silly Socks Day for Shelter Box and collected enough money to purchase one Shelter Box. This money was match funded by the Rotary Club of Cardiff Breakfast, enabling two Shelter Boxes to be sent overseas.
In March the Rotakids committee planned a coffee morning for parents, grandparents and guardians and the money raised was sent to the Macmillan Cancer Support Team, who do an amazing amount of work in our communities.
Rotakids in Year 6 also entered the ‘Purple 4 Polio’ poetry competition; three winners, one from each class in Year 6, went on to compete in the District Final Competition. You could say that Whitchurch Primary School Year 6 won the day, with Joshua Jenkins winning First Prize and Ffion Elson and Lilly Harries receiving Highly Commended Certificates for their inspirational poems.
The Rotakids ended their year by holding a Fun Day at the school. From the youngest in reception to Year 6 in the Juniors, all enjoyed an entertaining day by taking part in numerous activities, including ball game competitions; an Art competition; guess the name of the Teddy Bear; guess the weight of a cake; raffle prizes; fishing plastic ducks out of the pond; and purchasing bracelets made by the Rotakids.
During this year the Rotakids, a very enthusiastic group of pupils, have raised £1999.50 towards International, Community and School Projects. WELL DONE ROTAKIDS; you can be very proud of your achievements.
