The Rotary Club of Narberth & Whitland is absolutely delighted that Lily Whitehurst, the highly talented young violinist from Tenby, who is currently based in Manchester is to perform at their concert at Folly Farm this autumn starring Paul Potts.

Lily to Play in Top Concert

The Rotary Club of Narberth & Whitland is absolutely  delighted that Lily Whitehurst, the highly talented young violinist from Tenby, who is currently based in Manchester is to perform at their concert at Folly Farm this autumn starring Paul Potts.

Lily has now graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and is now pursuing a career as a highly sought after professional musician.

She has played with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra, Sinfonia Cymru, the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and frequently led the RNCM Opera Concert, Chamber and Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of the award winning Clara Quartet who performed across Europe.

As a soloist, Lily is a winner of the Cowen Violin Prize, Phillip Newman Violin Prize, Dyfed Young Musician of the Year, and the Bulgin Medal awarded by the Worshipful Society of Musicians. She has performed in masterclasses with some of the world’s leading violinists such as Christian Tetslaff, Renaud Capucon, Alina Pogostkina, Veronika Eberle and Leland Chen. Lily’s playing has been broadcast on BBC Songs of Praise, S4C, BBC Radio Foyle, and on BBC Radio Wales as a soloist with with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Lily was also the feature of a documentary during the 2012 BBC Proms. Lily is currently playing on a 17th Century Galiano kindly on loan from Mr Gordon Levy.

Rotarian John Hughes from the Rotary Club of Narberth & Whitland said that he was ‘really thrilled that Lily was able to take part in their concert’, and added that ‘already a fantastic musician at a young age, it will be a real treat for us to hear how Lily has developed’.

The Folly Farm concert starring Paul Potts, and also featuring Whitland Male Choir and Soprano Sioned Llewelyn from Efailwen is to be held on Saturday 4th November, 2017.

 Tickets for the concert are now on sale and are already proving to be in great demand with over 50% having already sold; including all the top priced £30 tickets. Tickets priced at £25 can be purchased online from Narberth & Whitland Rotary Club website www.rotarywales.co.uk   and are also available from Dale’s Music Shop, Tenby and from the Creative Café, High Street, Haverfordwest., tickets can also be purchased from members of Narberth & Whitland Rotary Club, and from Mr Huw Jones of Whitland & District Male Choir, (01994 448303).
