Club meeting where its committees can discuss their activities

A business meeting was held at the Rotary Club last week.  President Scott Elliot gave a review of the finances and reported that the club was in a healthy financial state.  After the meal the members broke-up into their various committees and discussed their future plans after which they reported back to the club.  Linden Warburton, International Convenor reported that the Club's micro-finance scheme operating in third-world countries was very successful with 5 programmes operating and 2 had repaid their loans in full.  Shoeboxes, filled with goodies, would be collected and sent to Eastern European countries in time for Xmas.  A film night is planned for Friday, 18th November the proceeds of which would go to Selkirk Rotary Club's Philippines Project.  Community and Vocational would support a project for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme Ron Sutherland reported as well as planting purple crocus bulbs for End Polio Now in Weensland Road at Heronhill.  Gus Neilson gave Foundation's plans which was supporting End Polio Now and were holding a quiz night on 16th February, 2018 in the Catholic Hall as well as raffling a framed limited print of a painting of the three Forth Bridges which was sure to be a popular and worthwhile prize.
Membership is always important and anyone interested in joining Rotary is asked to contact Past President Jim Walker on 01450 379769 for more information.
