On Monday 10th July the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill held its’ seventh successive annual charity golf day at the Rochford Hundred Golf Club. Twenty teams took part in a variety of competitions, rounded off by dinner and entertainment in the evening.

Carl Watson, President of the Rotary Club said, “We had an enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining day, played in a really great atmosphere and were able to raise £6,500.00. The weather was really kind to us throughout the day with only a few spots of rain.  A raffle and a charity auction were held after dinner with a number of tables bidding very generously. This really helped to increase the total amount on the day and it will all be added to our charity fund which will be used by the club to donate to deserving causes both locally and abroad.”

Speaking on the night Carl Watson said:-

"Running an event like this brings the whole club together and we all have a role to play to make it the success that it has become. I particularly need to thank all of the participating teams and the staff at The Rochford Hundred Golf Club for hosting the event. Our main sponsor this year was S Stibbards, Funeral Directors, for whom we are very appreciative. However I must also thank the numerous businesses and individuals who sponsored holes, donated raffle and auction prizes and simply those who gave their time on the day alongside our Director of Golf, George Kemp for his continued support."
