Fishing Boats for the Philippines

We have a £3,500 stake in this District wide project, together with 20 other clubs, to re-equip the Anilao community in the Philippines with 50 motorised fishing vessels.

Our last Group Study Exchange was with a district in The Philippines. When that district was devasated by Typhoon Hayan we immediately funded 4 shelterboxes worth £2,400 as disaster relief and committed to a further £1,000 for long term community recovery. With grant matching the £1,000 becomes £3,500, and so nearly £6,000 in total to help the Filipino communities in need.

After much deliberation it was agreed by the District Foundation Committee that this would be in the form of the building and equiping of 50 motorised fishing vessels with appropriate training at a total cost of £75,000. We look forward to following progress and seeing the name of Cardiff Bay Rotary on the side of two of the boats.
