WORKING TOGETHER

Local service organisations join forces to improve access to town centre meeting room.

Chard Masonic Lodge and Chard Rotary Club recently joined forces to improve access to the upstairs ballroom in the Phoenix Hotel, where members meet on a regular basis.

Realising that the staircase leading to the ballroom was beginning to cause problems for some members, the two organisations worked with the owners of the Phoenix Hotel to install a stair lift on the maiin staircase. This will make it easier for less mobile members of the groups to access the ballroom and will, at the same time, provide a more accessible venue for the public.

Representatives of both concerns recently presented cheques, covering their donations to the cost of the stairlift, to the Phoenix management when the opportunity was taken, by a Rotary member, to try out the stairlift.
