Thanks to the hard work of Mike and Pam Waddilove, Brian and Margaret Angus and Maggie Rowell, the grass area in the Walled Garden is looking great. Maggie is a new friend of Epsom Rotary who will also be helping with the allotment project.
For those of you who are not aware the Old Moat Garden Centre is run by Richmond Fellowship and they do fantastic work with people suffering from mental health problems, offering the opportunity to enrol for formal or informal training and work experience programmes in a realistic, commercial, but supportive environment. It offers training in nursery stock growing, propagation, vegetable and fruit production as well as contract gardening and cafe training, including food hygiene, barista training and food preparation.
Epsom Rotary has done many gruelling sessions at the Old Moat Walled Garden. The grass had grown to 2ft high over the COVID-19 Lockdown and was in desperate need of attention. That area is designed to be lawn to allow for Marquees to be erected, Dog training sessions to run and present a "corporate" image to allow the area to be rented to local associations and businesses. 3 tough lawnmowers were used over the three days and the machinery used was tough too. The new year has begun and we are mowing again.
