37 Members and one guest heard ex royal marine Dickie Bennett talk about his work with Breaking Ground Heritage BGH. BGH has been set up to help facilitate a recovery pathway for service personnel and veterans suffering physical or mental injuries using archaeology and other heritage projects. Dickie explained that BGH can also provide a spring board for anyone in the service community interested in the heritage sector as a potential new career pathway.
Club matters -
Peter Kirby is recovering well and hopes to be back at work within a month.
Educaid (Sierra Leone) have sent thanks for the £1,000 donation. They are currently providing a home for 84 (mainly orphan) children displaced by the floods and mud-slides.
Tributes were paid to all who helped with Moonraker. There were 340 walkers in 66 teams and we are optimistic of a good total. The Moonraker presentations will be on 13th November.
The skittles team were victorious over Bridgwater, winning by a hand and a half.
Alison Brown gave an enthusiastic report on the recent District Conference and encouraged more members to consider attending next year.
Youth speaks will be on 16th January 2018.
