Ralph and Ronnie with the Cup
Six yachts took part in this year’s Clyde Marine Challenge from 15 to 16 September sailing from Largs to Tarbert against a stiff north-westerly, then back via the Kyles of Bute and Port Bannatyne. Prizes were awarded for various sailing challenges. Rotary Club of Rothesay was represented by Ralph Anderson and Ronnie McAlister sailing on Mistral and by Ronnie Falconer sailing on Caranna with Ann Lockhart and Bob Burns from the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians. In addition to Mistral winning the Cumbraes Cup for the best overall placing on the timed legs, Caranna won the Roy Hepburn Rosebowl for winning the treasure hunt and nautical quiz. But the real winners were WaterAid and Spinal Research with over £2000 and £1000 being raised for each charity respectively. So well done to all who participated!
