End Polio Now Campaign

Purple4Polio camapign

The weather stayed fine whilst some Club members (pictured above) planted 5000 crocus bulbs  as part of the national Purple4Polio campaign.

The colour 'purple' is significant as that is the colour of dye used by vaccinators to identify children who have been vaccinated against the disease. Once they have been vaccinated one of the child's fingers usually the liitle finger is dipped in purple dye.

Polio can now be found in just three countries in the world - Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.

The Purple4Polio campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the disease and to continue to raise money for the campaign.

Even after the last case of polio is recorded children will still be needed to be vaccinated until three years have passed without a single new case being reported.
