Coffee, cakes and cash for local Scouts

Coffee morning for Kegworth Scouts

St Andrew's Church Kegworth was alive with activity during Shepshed Charnwood Rotary Club's annual coffee morning. This year it was in aid of the Kegworth Scout Group who turned out in force to help serve (and eat) some delicious cakes kindly supplied by the Scouts and Rotarians.

In line with their motto, 'Be Prepared', several Scouts came ready to work on their pioneering badge by practising the building of a shelter. With the amount of cakes on offer the two Rotarians wondered if it might need expanding!

As well as the food and drink there was a book stall, raffle and, above all, a great atmosphere.

President Alan Darby and Scout Leader Jim Field thanked all those who came for their generosity which raised over £340 for the group in addition to a donation to the Church, not bad in two hours!

Event co-ordinator, Rotarian Bill Watson, ran a pie auction as well as the ever successful raffle.  He commented that this was Rotary doing what it does best, helping local community organisations.
