The Rotary Club of Cheltenham have organised the planting of 2,500 purple Crocus bulbs at All Saints Academy to celebrate World Polio Day - 24th October. The Rotary Wheel Design will flower in February to remind the pupils and visitors to the school of the fight to eradicate Polio by immunising every child born in the world against the disease, a campaign which has been spearheaded by the Rotary movement over the last 30 years. Whereas in 1985, 350,000 new cases of polio were arising in a year, to date there have been only 12 new cases in 2017 in 2 remaining countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Once there has been no new cases for 3 years the world can be declared Polio Free.
