Children's Music Festival Final
Tue 20th March 2018 at 18.00 - 19.30
18 finalists from 10 junior schools in our area took part in the Final.
This year’s Music Festival Final proved to be as high a standard as we have come to expect in the 30 years that we have been running the event.
Ten different junior schools in our area - Lady Bay, Plumtree, Archbishop Cranmer (Aslockton), St Peter’s C of E (East Bridgford), Radcliffe on Trent Junior, Carnarvon (Bingham), Langar C of E, Candleby Lane (Cotgrave), Cropwell Bishop and Flintham – provided the 18 finalists. They displayed their virtuosity on a variety of instruments - flute, recorder, violin, piano, drums, electric guitar, cello, trumpet and clarinet, and there were also 3 vocalists.
The judges had a hard task to decide the winner and the two runners-up, but eventually decided on the following:
Winner: Annie Besson (Langar C of E), voice.
Runner-up: Max Gerrard (Cropwell Bishop), trumpet.
Runner-up: Henry Lee (Radcliffe on Trent), drums.
Certificates and prizes were presented by the Mayor of Rushcliffe, Councillor Leslie (Barry) Cooper.
We were pleased to present a Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) to Louise Waters. Louise is a teacher at Candleby Lane School and she has worked tirelessly to support us over several years. The PHF is an award that Rotary makes to recognise the service that individuals give in their communities. Louise richly deserves the award, and we look forward to many more years of co-operation.
We would like to thank our adjudication team for their support in the heats and the finals: Jane Purchase, Bob Jones, Suzanne Bellamy, Louise Peck, Sara Griffiths, Jacob Elliott and Lydia Messam.
