Sal's shoes by Rotarian Janet Appleton who is district 1040’s environmental officer.

Sal's Shoes was set up in Croydon by a mother 5 years ago. As a mother she was intrigued to know what happened to her child’s outgrown shoes that she had donated to other charities and nobody could tell her. Through her own research she found out that 50 million children 3-11 years worldwide do not have footwear.

36 countries are benefiting from the shoes donated. They have to be in pairs, have some life in the soles left. Any type of footwear can be donated from plimsoles to sandals to wellington boots.

Recreational shoes such as football boots to ballet shoes are also being shipped to needy areas.

In the last three years 175 thousand loved shoes have been distributed to children who would be left barefoot had this project not been set up.

More information can be found at www.salsshoes.com they also have a Facebook page.
