Another awesome year of Hedge End generosity.

As we get into the Autumn, it usually comes as a bit of a surprise to realise that Christmas is not so very far away and one regular reminder of this is the Rotary Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

The members of Hedge End Breakfast Rotary Club would like to thank all our friends from St. John’s Church, Wildern School, Berrywood Primary School, Freegrounds Junior School, WYG Construction, the Hedge End over 60s Monday Club and all the other kind people who contributed Shoeboxes, for their magnificent support in this year’s appeal.

As well as all the generously filled shoeboxes we were grateful for the large selection of additional items including books, pencils and three big bags of knitted things such as woollen hats, purses, scarves and other useful pieces of clothing. These proved to be very valuable and made the boxes that bit more exciting. We spent the morning of Saturday November 4th at Wildern School where we sorted and packed the boxes ready for their journey to reach the children who will, no doubt, be delighted to receive them. All-together we had 444 boxes to send to the collection point in Andover. They have now gone to off to be added to all the others from the other clubs in the Rotary Wessex district.

We are very grateful to Pitter Van Hire for lending us a vehicle so that we could get them there It is always a pleasure to take part in this appeal and to know that together, we are making Christmas that little bit more special for some very disadvantaged children.

If you want to get involved next year give us a call, text, email or follow us on twitter and facebook.
