During last week The Rotary Club of Tywyn were present in the Co-op store in Tywyn from 9 until 6 from Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday) collecting monies for Shelterbox from the general public to send aid to the recently devastated Caribbean Islands, damaged by Hurricane Irma. A Shelterbox, which contains a tent and sufficient support items for ten people costs £590 and the Club managed to raise the sum of £1203.31 from the collection to which was added the Club's own donation of £3000 from their Benevolent Fund. Cheques for £4203.31 and £200 (donated by Tywyn Inner Wheel) have been sent to Shelterbox, who work in conjunction with Rotary International all over the world to provide assistance during such disasters.
The Club would like to thank the management and staff of the Co-op store for the use of the store and also the general public who gave so generously during the week. Thanks also go to anyone else who gave assistance during the week.
