Southend Athletic Club’s Lee Taylor won the race in 34 minutes 53 seconds and won the male over 40 category.

Second over the line was Chris Hatton of Southend Athletic Club who won the Male Runners 16-39 year old category in 35 minutes 34seconds.

The first lady to finish was Hayley Lamkin, also of the Southend Athletic Club in a time of 43 minutes 18 seconds and second lady home was Andrea Hughes of Leigh Striders who finished in a time of 43 minutes 43 seconds to win the Ladies over 35 category.

Race organiser, Rotarian John Cuthbertson, advised that the number of runners had increased significantly from last year’s inaugural race. The runners had enjoyed the picturesque and varied route and praised the organisation and the friendly and supportive marshals. Many runners hoped to be able to participate in the run next year.

It is hoped that this year’s run will have raised close to £3,500 which will go into the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill’s Charity Account that is used to help many deserving causes locally, nationally and internationally as well as providing an interesting and rewarding experience for the local runner.
