There are a range of youth activities supported by Rotary, giving young people opportunities to develop leadership skills, confidence and have fun in the process.
This year Limerick Thomond are focussing on three programmes, Youth Leadership, Young Photographer and Young Writer – see below for details. Rotary also offers opportunities for Youth Exchange programmes, Interact Clubs in secondary schools and Rotaract Clubs at third level.
This competition rewards young people with clear leadership potential, based on their activities within school and extracurricular activities. Winners of this competition go to Belfast and Dublin to meet politicians and business people and then travel to the European Parliament in Strasbourg where they debate a variety of motions on current topics with other young people from across Europe.
This competition encourages young people from junior to senior years to use their writing skills, creativity and imagination. Winners are selected at a Club level and are then entered in an All-Ireland Rotary competition.
As a talent and art form, Rotary celebrate the photographic skills of thousands of young people, this well established and successful competition is open to Junior and Senior amateur photographers. There is a local heat, held by the Rotary club, followed by a district heat and winners from there compete nationally.
