Rotary Clubs undertake projects to improve life and address the needs of their own communities.
Examples of recent projects include the following...
Blood Pressure Clinics
High blood pressure is a leading cause of stroke and heart disease. Regular blood Pressure checks enable early diagnosis and treatment. Every November, the Limerick Thomond Rotary Club and our sister club Limerick Shannon run a blood pressure clinic in the local Augustinian Church. Medically qualified people carry out the test and give advice if needed. Up to 300 people may attend on a day.
Our club also organises drug awareness talks for junior students in local secondary schools. The talks are given by people in recovery, both male and female, attending the Cuan Mhuire addiction centre. Each talk can cater for up to fifty students. The talk lasts for approximately forty-five minutes with questions and answers.
