Meeting on Wednesday 29th November 2017
Talk by Mima Fondong – Rotary Scholar 2017/8
Mima was born in Houston but her origins are in Cameroon.
After 2 years in Cameroon “to learn her heritage”, she settled in Louisianna.
She described herself as part of “the Class of 2013” at Baylor University. A 5 week internship in Germany and a spell with MAPS helping to care for disadvantaged children brought her up to graduation.
After that, a gap year, with the help of Rotary, led her towards studying for an MSc in global public health.
She is now attached to the University of Westminster, and is involved with a number of projects including the “End Polio Now” project.
She plans to return to the USA to continue her studies and eventually pursue a career in emergency medicine.
