York Ainsty Santa's Sleigh

The Rotary York Ainsty Santa's Sleigh is their main fund-raiser during December in the run-up to Christmas.

York children – both young and old - would normally be thrilled to get an early chance to meet Santa – courtesy of Rotary York Ainsty and their sleigh during December, visiting villages and city streets bringing the Christmas message. HOWEVER, IN 2020, SANTA IS TAKING A BREAK DUE TO THE ON-GOING COVID-19 PANDEMIC. As well as providing all an opportunity to meet Santa, the initiative is a fund-raiser and every year thousands of pounds are donated to charities both near and far. Recently, more than £10,000 was kindly given by our generous communities.

Certain locations and collections are dedicated to and run by specific local charities in partnership with Rotary York Ainsty. The charities provide Santa and the collection ‘elves’. (See below.)
