Dinner at Norton Fitzwarren Village Hall, speaker Fiona Mahoney of Reminiscence Learning

Norton Fitzwarren Village Hall

The Top Team

34 members and Guest Speaker Fiona Mahoney enjoyed a home-cooked meal prepared and served by Inner Wheel members at Norton Fitzwarren Village Hall. President Colin summoned the waitresses and scullery maids to the dining room to be praised and thanked for their efforts, and said that we all hoped that the profits on our meal would be a welcome contribution to their Club’s Charity.

Reminiscence Learning’s CEO Fiona then gave an update on the progress of her brainchild. She said that thanks to the support of Past Pres Paul, and our funds from 2015 Moonraker, they had gone from strength to strength with over 40 projects across the country. A chain of Care Homes now used their programme to train staff in understanding Dementia, and there were a number of schools who used her stories and illustrations in “Health and Wellbeing” classes to great effect. Link-ups with Northtown School and Abbeyfield had benefitted both residents and pupils.
Marvin the Robot was proving a great success.

A National Dementia Action Week from 21st to 27th May would give the project a boost, but Fiona stressed that fund-raising was still vital, especially for a fixed period in order to help them budget.

After questions and answers, d/r Derek Johnson proposed a hearty vote of thanks.

Business. The international Committee would report to the Club on May 14th on the proposed project in Africa.
Ball Draw for a potential £100 prize left Bill Bain with the wine, but no Joker.

Next Meeting on Monday 30th April at Taunton Rugby Football Club.
d/r B Kettlewell s/f D Bartaby Meal apologies to R Austin

Breakfast Meeting on 9th May – opt-in to Rory O’Donnell.
