Revd Canon Jane Curtis, the recently appointed vicar of St Bartholomew's, joined us for lunch on 15 November and afterwards gave a very entertaining and thought-provoking account of her career to date and her pathway to priesthood. She talked about her involvement in the wider debate about women priests and her pleasure when the first woman bishop was appointed. Married to Richard, newly appointed as Team Rector of the Cannings, Jane also reflected on the pressures of balancing a relationship with careers within an organisation that expects clergy to live in their own parishes. At the end of her talk, Michael Page - Rotary club member and a Lay minister at St Bart's - proposed a vote of thanks to Jane and wished her every success in her role across the community of RWB and its districts
