Rotary Donation To Help Manx Citizen Advice Service Expand Into Castletown

Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann recently donated £250 for publicity materials to the Manx Citizen Advice Service Southern Branch, for use when it extends its services by offering advice sessions in Castletown later this year.

The Manx Citizens Advice Service Southern Branch which was initially set up by Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann members in 1979, currently provides weekly ‘drop in’ advice session in Port Erin. These sessions provide free impartial advice to people for the problems they face, including: housing issues; benefits advice; help with relationship breakdowns; faulty goods or poor workmanship; employment issues; and it can make food bank referrals.

The Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann is part of a global network of volunteers, trying to make the world a better place through a variety of ways. President Paul Winnell commented

“Our Rotary Club has actively supported the Manx Citizen Advice Service for many years since we helped to set it up in 1979, with a number of members providing advice at the drop in sessions. When we heard of the plans to expand the much needed service into Castletown we felt that we needed to provide practical support to get things started. This is a perfect example of Rotary’s global ‘People in Action’ initiative taking place here in the Isle of Man”

David Hoskinson, Chairman of Manx Citizens Advice Service Southern Branch  commented

“The expansion of our drop in sessions Castletown will make it easier for local residents to access the advice they need. The generosity of the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann will allow us purchase banners to let ‘passers by’ know about the new drop sessions when they start in the Castletown Civic Centre later this year.”
