Everything goes swimmingly at the Swimathon presentation

Thanks to all those who came along to our Rotary Club Swimathon Funds Charity Giveaway at Durham Town Hall yesterday! It is excellent to see so many charity recipients all together and to support the fabulous work that they do in our local area. This year, the 10th annual Swimathon raised a record-breaking £9,751.41! Many thanks to Michael Costello for his fantastic organisation skills, to Freemans Quay Leisure Centre for having us, and to all our swimmers who took part. The funds raised have been split between our swimmers’ own chosen charities, and the Mayor’s chosen charity, the Great North East Air Ambulance. Overall, the event has raised £73,073 since it first began in 2008. We look forward to another great event back at Freemans Quay on 17-18 November 2018.

Charities participating were: Inner Wheel Club of Durham for President’s Charity.. Trinity School
Treetops Ward, UHND.
St. Leonard School Rowing Club
Framwellgate School
Durham School
Elvet Methodist Church
Down’s Syndrome North East
Cheesy Waffle Project
Archie Lloyd Charitable Foundation
Neville’s Cross Primary School Multiple Use Games Area
and
The Right Worshipful Mayor of Durham’s charity, Great North Air Ambulance.
