RCBB has supported the Burnham Youth club for some years and is working actively with them to help re-establish the Club in Burnham following the creation of a new committee. Paul Sherriff is chairman of the committee and shared with us his plans for the club's future.

Paul gave a very interesting insight into the journey of youth services in the UK and its current challenges and impact on Burnham Youth club (BYC). Over the passage of time, BYC has changed focus, form and funding source. As it stands currently, it needs about £25k/ year to run its operation. This is funded through charity fund events/ donations as there is no government funding available. Today’s youth are in a very different environment, faced with challenges of social media, digitisation and use of gadgets – and this is changing very rapidly. As a result, there is clear need for youth centres as identified by schools, parents and social services and Burnham Youth Centre will need active involvement of the community to make it sustainable.
