District Forum Cancelled

The District Forum Scheduled for 17th March has been cancelled due to concerns about the Corona Virus outbreak. It will be re-scheduled in due course once the worse of the outbreak is over.

Statement by the District Regarding the District Forum Meeting on 17th March.

The guidance given by Rotary GB&I on the Covid-19 outbreak and the holding of meetings has been reviewed by the District Executive and it has been decided to use their discretion and postpone the District Forum that was to have been held on Tuesday 17th March. Less than half of the Clubs in the District have as yet indicated their intentions of attending or not and some Rotarians have decided already not to attend, specifically for health reasons. There are many elderly Rotarians who we would hate to potentially put at risk should they decide to attend.

The meeting will be held, as the Rotary GB&I Bylaws require Districts to hold at least 3 such Meetings each Rotary year. No date has been determined as to when to hold this meeting nor has it been decided on the circulation of the agenda, minutes and reports. Information will be circulated in due course when these decisions have been made.

In2005/6 Thorpe Bay Rotary helped to fund a new Health Post in the village of Halji.

Thorpe Bay welcomed friends across 2 Continents to celebrate VE Day with us.

After being lockdown for 18 months our Polio Bear has started to travel again. Every time a new place is visited, we donate £25 to End Polio Now

Thorpe Bay Rotary now meet online every Wednesday at 9am and we are still busy working behind the scenes to support Charities in need.

The Chairman of Rochford District Council Cllr Julie Gooding and the Mayor of Southend on Sea Cllr Margaret Borton officiated at the start of the 2021 Foulness Bike Ride.

On the 12th September 2021 over 1000 people enjoyed the wonderful island of Foulness by being part of Thorpe Bay Rotary's annual Bike Ride.

Teresa Cutmore and Graham Green, both members of the Southend Art Club, were impressed by the exciting quality of work produced by such young people.

Bob Page, Karl Lansley and Loretta Andrews present the first of 4 Defibrillators already installed along Southend Seafront in Phase 1 of project SEEDIP. Phase 2 will commence in 2021.

Thorpe Bay Rotary, Leigh on Sea Rotary, and the Carli Lansley Foundation have joined forces to install Public Defibrillators along Southend on Sea Seafront from Chalkwell to Shoeburyness.
