The new Council takes over

Our Club Handover took place today. President Keith started the meeting as President and, following the meal, the Loyal Toast, the welcome to our visitors and the announcement of members’ birthdays, formally handed over to President Anne. He took off the President’s chain of office and placed it round her neck. She then gave her 1st Vice President’s chain to Francis Whitbread and he gave his 2nd Vice President’s chain to Janice Goodman.Past President's Jewel

Our new President then gave Keith his Past President’s Jewel (see photograph) and Past President’s lapel badge. She also surprised him by announcing that our Club had won the Stan Keller Trophy for the best website in District 1240 for 2017-18 and gave him the trophy to keep for the year in recognition of the work he had done on the site.

Rtn Keith Dabbs then spoke about his recent visit to the Rotary Club of Swanage & Purbeck, a go-ahead Club that has strong links with its local community. He gave President Anne a copy of the Swanage & Purbeck Club’s annual report as it may contain some useful pointers to things we could do.

It was then Anne’s turn to be surprised. To mark her installation as President, Rtn Harry Hatcher presented Anne with a pearl necklace in recognition of their friendship over the years.
