March Diary 2018

From President Ian

Well by the time you read this I, hopefully, should have had my operation which was cancelled last month. It’ll take me a wee while to recover, however I am very grateful to Gary, Dave and Peter for looking after the Club in my absence.

Our Club is yet again embarking on a new venture as we try and resolve the issue of not having a volunteer to take on the role of President Elect. Can I encourage you all to think about taking this on and please talk to one of the Past Presidents for more information, there’s is a wealth of experience available to you.

We are now getting over a pretty harsh winter and it is so nice to see our purple crocus bulbs flowering around the island. These were purchased by the Club for the Elimination of Polio Appeal and many thanks to all those who helped in getting them, distributing them, and planting them.

Finally, a word about my President’s Night. This has been in the past one of the most important events of the Club’s year. It is a time to celebrate and enjoy an evening of fun as well as raise some funds for my charity, which this year is the Portland Coastwatch. I encourage you to attend and invite relatives and friends to have a nice three course meal and lively dancing to a live band. All bookings should go to Jayne.

President Ian.
