Il Giro Di Pembrokeshire

The new name for the Rotary Charity Bike Ride

The Giro Di Pembrokeshire is named after the famous Italian Cycle Race.  The Giro d'Italia is known for its steep and difficult climbs.  Whilst we have a few “hills” on the 10 mile family route, they become more seroius as the distance increases on the longer routes.  Following feedback from the 2018 event, we now have the much anticpiated 75 mile route aimed at the serious hardcore club cyclist looking for a real challenge.  However, we are keeping the 27 and 50 mile routes, and you are allowed to change on the day, should you decide your training has gone well and wish to extend yourself.  You can also go for a shorter ride should you wish to have an easier ride on the day.

An introduction to the 75 mile route

We have been running this charity bike ride for a number of years, which has gradully attracted more and more cyclists.  It’s popularity is partly due to offering something for everyone, ranging from 10 mile fun ride, the more sporty 27 mile route through to the 50 mile route.  In 2017 we were privileged to have former UCI World Champion and Beijing 2008 Olympic Gold Medlist Nicole Cooke MBE ride the 50 mile.  She said she enjoyed it and was a little surprised how tough it was.

In 2018 we asked for feed back and much to our surprise you asked for an even longer ride.  So for 2019 we are pleased to annouce we have intruduced the 75 mile route.  This version has a lot more hills, including Davids famous Cake Hill, which has over a 50% failure rate, so please do not attempt unless you are an experienced club cyclist.  You will also need to have excellent brakes, as some of the steep descents require you to stop at junctions.  For the nutters who asked for this, I hope you are satisfied!

Entry Costs are Adult (over 18) £15. Age 12 -17 £10. Under 11 £5.

If you raise £30 or more (adult) or £20 or more (under 18) or £10 or more (Under 11) in sponsorship for our nominated charities, your entry fee will be only 50p!
