Volunteering in Ghana for Vision Aid Overseas

Paramvir Singh Luther recounted his experiences of training 5th year optometry and nursing students at Kwame Nkrumah University in Ghana. Lack of technical resources and equipment notwithstanding, Paramvir and his fellow (self-funded) volunteers conducted eye camps and showed students how to conduct eye tests and prescribe spectacles. Paramvir explained to the Club the prevailing conditions for eye care in Ghana, and that Vision Aid Overseas is trying to answer the developmental issues in a number of African countries.

Paramvir raised more than £1700 for this volunteering assignment. All money raised went directly to Vision Aid Overseas to help towards providing eye care services to those less fortunate than ourselves.
