Minutes of the Meeting

Held on Thursday, July 11th  2019

            Birthday wishes to Ian for July 13th, Spyros for July 14th and Kathy for July    17th.

Meal Steward:

Committees:

            Everyone is expected to serve on a committee so please decide as soon as     possible which committee(s) you would like to join or else there will be            unceremonious press-ganging for the hesitant or undecided.

Subscriptions:

            David M. reminded those that have yet to pay their subscriptions that the      deadline is the end of next week.

Gardening at the Whitstable and Tankerton Hospital – Saturday, July 6th:

            Many thanks to everyone who turned out to help and especially to Marian    for her flapjacks that made the day.

Joint Meeting with RC Herne Bay at the Seaside Museum – Tuesday, July 9th:

            There was very successful joint viewing with RC Herne Bay of the their          exhibition on the Telly-Go-Round at the Seaside Museum followed by a meal at the A La Turka restaurant.

Thursday, July 11th - Board Meeting:

            Sue’s first as Board meeting as President will be this evening, July 11th but     there will be a change of venue to the house of Andrew B. at 17 Curtis       Wood Park Road, Herne, Herne Bay, CT6 7TY.

Thursday, July 25th – Evening Meeting with Speaker, Rebecca Futrell from      Alzeimhers’ Research:

            Lesley asked that no one forgets to indicate on the form whether or not        they will be at the evening meeting on July 25th and whether they will be   bringing guests.   She also needs to know if anyone wants the vegetarian            option.

Sunday, July 29th – Herne and Broomfield Fun Day:

            Andrew B.  made an appeal for help with car parking at the Herne and           Broomfield Fun Day but while Reggie rushed to volunteer more help        would             be welcome.

Saturday, August 3rd - Whitstable Harbour Day:

   The Club will be taking part in Whitstable Harbour Day on Saturday, August 3rd and help is needed so please sign up or just turn up.     Maritime dress is the rig of the day but not essential but please wear      Rotary T-shirts if you are not coming in your Captain BirdsEye outfit.

Sunday, August 4th – Car Parking:

            The next car parking will be on Sunday, August 4th and there is a form in       the folder so please sign up if you can as this is likely to be a busy day.

Friday, September 6th – Charity Golf Day:

            The Club Charity Golf Day in aid of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and            Alzeimher’s Research will take place on Friday, September 6th.    Nick    needs help setting up, meeting and greeting, booking-in, selling raffle   tickets and running the putting competition, from 9.30 am until midday          and from 3.00 pm for an hour or so.   There is a         form in the folder so            please sign-up if you can help or if you would like to join the meal in the    evening.

December 2019 – Christmas Dinner:

            Ron would welcome suggestions for a venue for the Christmas Dinner.         

Visitors and Greetings:

            Robert and Gill Sissons have just visited Aachen as RC Canterbury Sunrise     has just linked with RC Aachen-Land and Robert brought greetings from

            President Reinhard Goethe.

Raffle:

   Andrew M. won the raffle and Jean M. took an orchid.    Jean S. won the          second draw and was very happy to have the bottle of wine.

Master of Alms:

   Today is World Population Day which in itself did not raise much for Nick     but Spryos paid heavily for pranging Pippa’s car.
